This super fun, hands on workshop introduces the ancient art of encaustic. Derived from the Greek word, enkaustikos, meaning “to heat or burn in,” encaustic is an ancient technique dating back to the Greeks who used wax to caulk ship hulls. Today encaustic involves building up layers by melting a wax medium and applying it to a surface with a brush or any tool the artist wishes to create from. Each layer is then reheated to fuse it to the previous layer.
