The Cincinnati Book Arts Society invites you to an in-person and Zoom meeting with Judy Dominic who will be leading us in making a Tab-Binding. The meeting is Saturday July 12, 2025 from 3:00 – 5:00 at the CBAS Studio #164, 2511 Essex Place, Cincinnati, OH 45206. Parking is available in front of the building and in the lot across the street.
Continuing the theme of no-sew bindings from our May meeting, the Tab Binding is super cool for joining single pages or signatures. It allows all the pages/signatures in the book to lay flat. We will make three books total: one with signatures and two with single board pages/covers (one even-numbered and one odd numbered).
SUPPLIES NEEDED: Kits of signatures, pages and covers will be supplied for technique-quality books. Bring masking, painters and scotch tapes no wider than 1″, plus a pencil and bone folder (or use those on hand at the studio). For those on Zoom: single pages (11) and covers (6) can be made from cereal boxes or file folders; signatures bound or stapled and ready to use (4 – 4 sheets each) can be made from copy paper or whatever you have on hand. Make sure your covers fit your pages and signatures. In the studio we will be working with a book size 8.5″H x 5.5″wide. Tape makes for an easy tab: tabs can be made from card stock/file folders, ribbons or decorative tape; adhesives can be glue sticks, or tape (masking, scotch, Washi, duct, electrical, painters. etc.)

This also ensures those attending in person will have needed supplies from the studio and those attending by Zoom have time to find any needed supplies to make these structures.
