The discovery of a bag of wooden spools in a giveaway box at the Essex Studios has inspired the idea of a challenge. You’re invited to create work to the first online exhibit of 2025, tentatively called Spooling. Either stop by the CBAS Studio and pick up one of the discovered spools while supplies last or use your own spool. Our thanks to Claire Marcus for sending additional vintage wooden spools.
The only requirement for joining the challenge is that your book somehow incorporate a spool (or spools): wooden, plastic, styrofoam, cardboard, new or vintage, any material, any size. There is no restriction on the date when the piece was made. Create the work yourself or collaborate with a CBAS friend.
Deadline for entering the challenge is April 5th. All current CBAS members are eligible to submit up to 4 pieces.
Please send 2 or 3 good quality jpegs to [email protected] along with the following information: Your name, Title of piece, Dimensions in inches (Height x Width x Depth), Media used and a brief (2-3 sentence) Artist statement.
