Everyone loves getting something special in the mail – especially something homemade. For years one CBAS member has been making homemade cards to send out. Some were stamped, some were dye cut but all were appreciated. Every once in awhile a Study Group program sparks an idea that turns into a holiday card.
In August Marguerite Katchen presented a circle book and a waterfall mechanism. The waterfall mechanism sparked this year’s holiday card. It looks like a magic trick as the gold half circle is pulled down and five different “pages” are revealed. Once understood the mechanism is not difficult to assemble with materials already in the studio. This idea may be used for birthdays, anniversaries and other special events. This is just one example of how an idea in the bookmaking world translated to a unique card for many people to enjoy at the holidays.
